Preparing drawings for a property launch
Ask your architect for a usable export before starting a preview. Check the revision, units and references against a drawing you understand.
Published 21 October 2026. Autodesk export references checked the same day.
Before you upload
Current floor plan. Readable dimensions. Confirmed units. Complete references.
Keep the source drawing available. A preview needs your review before it becomes evidence for a launch.
Ask for the drawing, not a presentation image
A drawing trial starts with the architect’s current file. You do not need to redraw the building or commission another illustration.
Ask for a representative floor plan with readable dimensions, apartment identifiers and openings. Keep the revision date with the file. Start with the level you can check against a drawing you already understand.
A DXF export or directly exported PDF is a useful starting point. A screenshot can show the appearance of a plan. It may lose the information needed to check dimensions and geometry.
The file extension alone does not establish accuracy. A PDF can contain vector linework, raster images or both. A DXF can depend on external references. Review the export with your architect before treating it as a complete drawing.
Confirm scale with a known dimension
Ask which unit the exported CAD coordinates use. Millimetres and metres are different coordinate units, even when printed dimension labels look familiar.
Include one known dimension that is easy to locate, such as an overall wall length. For a PDF, also include the sheet size and intended drawing scale. Printing with “fit to page” can change the scale of a sheet.
Keep dimensions visible. Do not assume that a filename containing “1-100” makes a plan measurable. If scale remains uncertain, resolve it before accepting measured outputs.
Keep the export complete
Ask whether the drawing uses linked models or external references. Request a self-contained export where possible. If it depends on companion files, identify them before starting the upload.
The goal is not a larger bundle. It is enough information to understand which lines belong to the building. Retain level names and unit identifiers where they exist. A flattened image cannot substitute for missing geometry or a missing referenced drawing.
Optional elevations and sections help explain heights and openings. A unit schedule helps reconcile names and areas. Land photos provide context. Keep these separate from the primary floor plan and label them clearly.
Instructions your architect can use
For Revit LT, Autodesk documents File → Export → CAD Formats → DXF. Select the relevant view or sheet and check the export setup. Confirm its units and the treatment of linked files.
For PDF output, request a direct CAD or BIM export rather than a photograph of a printout. Autodesk’s Revit printing guidance describes vector processing for suitable views. Graphics and rendered or shaded views can require raster processing. Inspect the exported PDF; a processing setting does not guarantee an entirely vector file.
These are export instructions, not a promise that every file version can be interpreted. Keep the original source. If geometry remains uncertain, ask for a clearer export rather than approving a guessed building.
A request you can forward
Copy the following request into a message to your architect.
Please send the current floor plan as a DXF export or directly exported PDF.
Keep dimensions, apartment identifiers and openings visible. Please include the revision date and confirm the exported coordinate unit.
Identify one known dimension. For a PDF, include the sheet size and intended scale.
Please confirm whether linked files are required. A self-contained export is preferable where possible.
If available, send the elevations, sections and unit schedule as separate, clearly named files.
What the saprenvy trial does
Start a private project with your email and project address. The project name is optional. Upload the architect’s file in that project space.
The current offer provides four free watermarked previews before payment. The interactive maquette and complete project pack follow verified payment. The launch price is $250 until 31 December 2026, normally $500.
Preview feasibility and accuracy depend on the actual drawing. A preview is something to inspect, not evidence that an entire pack has already passed review. If clarification is requested, answer in the project conversation and keep the source drawing available.
See the project pack offer for the full scope. Read the document-to-maquette workflow for the distinction between previews and the paid building.
